Royal Family News: Prince Harry’s Talkback Memoir Titled “Spare” Royals “Very Concerned?”

British royal family news reveals that Prince Harry’s bombshell is titled Spare, and that one word has got to have the royals fearing the worst. That plus the cover—with what looks like Harry’s mugshot—seem to infer that Harry is going all out on his claims to have been a “prisoner” inside the opulent palace walls.

Anyone know a happy prisoner who has good things to say about their time behind bars? Yeah, me neither.

Royal Family News – Harry Throwing Down The Spare

The book drops on January 10 and the publisher promises a, “raw, unflinching honesty,” that is causing tremors already. When the book was announced last year (PageSix leaked the news, Harry was forced to confirm), it was rumored that the palace had “lawyered up.”

What’s in a name? Within the monarchy, the first born son of a regent is the heir to the throne, the second born commonly referred to as the spare. Thus Harry is the spare part to his brother William’s alpha-ness. Consider this: when was the last time you used the spare? Does anyone want to use a spare tire? No, absolutely not, it’s one of those things laying around that is used only when necessary and even then not in the best of circumstances.

Harry the Spare has made it clear that he is unpleased with his lot in life. Based on his raggedy performance with Oprah Winfrey, his book ought to be a wham bam thank you not ma’am kind of one two punch that may make his anger neurons feel better, but could destroy a lot of people in the process. Is that what he means when he talks about the valuable lessons he learned in the military that made him a “man?”

Royal Family NewsB – Harry Throws Truth Bombs?

The cover of Spare shows an uncomfortably close up of Harry staring back at the reader (if one goes so far as to buy the book not actually written by Harry although the audiobook will be read by the prince) as if daring us to back down and look away first. Welcoming it is not, what was Harry thinking putting such a stinkface on a product that is meant to entice people to buy it and take it home?

According to the Daily Mail, “it appears the tone of the book has darkened since it was first announced in July last year. While the memoir was then-described as an ‘inspiring, courageous, and uplifting human story’, today’s promotion calls it a ‘personal journey from trauma to healing.’” Everyone will know exactly what that means come January 10, perhaps a day of intractable reckoning for the court jester.
