And while the royal family, in general, is still upset with what the couple told Oprah Winfrey in that one-bombshell-after-another interview, it’s William who is rumored to be holding the biggest grudge.

A royal family insider claims that although William became upset when Harry and Meghan Markle decided to step back from the royal family, give up their duties, and leave the U.K., his negative feelings toward Meghan began soon after they were wed.

For more than a year, William reportedly gradually became more and more angry with Markle. He felt that his wife, Kate Middleton, was trying repeatedly to guide Meghan and help her become assimilated into the royal family.

But Markle appeared to reject Kate’s efforts. Observing the situation, William felt “infuriated,” according to the insider.

And while William was upset when Harry announced their decision to leave the royal family and his homeland, it was Meghan who is rumored to have really upset William even before the Oprah Winfrey interview.

How Did Prince William React To Meghan Markle Statements In Oprah Winfrey Interview?

When William listened to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry respond to Oprah Winfrey’s questions, his anger escalated. In particular, Harry’s older brother became furious when Meghan specifically slammed Kate Middleton, said the royal insider.

“To name Kate so publicly during the Oprah interview as the person who made her cry was beyond the pale. Meghan would have been acutely aware that Kate is powerless to fight back,” pointed out the insider.

The royal family source describes Kate as sensitive and private, and William reportedly feels defensive about the way that Meghan treated her. Following Markle’s claims that Kate made her cry in the days prior to her wedding, William was irate that Middleton was given no chance to respond.

“First and foremost, William cannot countenance the way Meghan has treated his wife. He feels Kate tried at the beginning, but it was never enough,” summed up the insider.

And even though Middleton sought repeatedly to guide Meghan in royal protocol, her attempts were “constantly misinterpreted,” added the source.
