Royal Family News: Prince William’s Vision For The Future Monarchy

British royal family news reveals that the UK is in a eight day period of mourning following the death of Prince Philip. The 99-year old consort will be buried next Saturday and inevitably his death brings with it questions about the future of the monarchy.

Will Queen Elizabeth now hand over the reins to her heir and son Prince Charles? Or will she sidestep him for his son and heir, Prince William?

Royal Family News – Prince William Has Big Plans

In a BBC interview with Nicholas Witchall in 2016, William revealed his vision for his takeover of the monarchy.

He said, “It is something that occupies a lot of thinking space as to how on earth you would develop into something modern in today’s world.”

“I’m in a unique position, a very privileged position, to be able to see some of this now, which is that I’ve got my grandmother, who takes more of a passive role in how she believes her role should be.”

He went on to say, “She’s above politics and keeps away from it. I’ve got my father who minds an awful lot about a lot of the charitable causes he is involved in.”

In a revealing statement he said, “The Royal Family has to modernize and develop as it goes along and it has to stay relevant. That’s the challenge for me – how do I make the Royal Family relevant in the next twenty years time. It could be 40 years, could be 60, I have no idea when that could be.”

But he noted that he was confident he could make and keep the monarchy he so obviously loves relevant in the modern world.

Royal Family News – The Queen Is William’s Role Model

William’s interview was quite lengthy and in it he freely discussed how he is approaching his future.

He said, “I think the Queen’s duty and service, her tolerance, her commitment to others – I think that’s all been incredibly important to me. That’s been a real guiding example of what a good monarch can be. It’s been incredibly insightful for me watching her leadership in that role.”

“I think it’s essential for somebody to grow into that kind of role with the right characteristics and the right qualities and I think she’s exemplified that in everything she has done.”

Lest anyone think that William will radically change the monarchy when his turn comes, they needn’t worry.

He concluded that he is all about, “representing timeless values,” of the institution.
