British royal family news shows that the death of Queen Elizabeth on September 8, 2022 changed everything for the royal family. At the moment of her death, Her Majesty’s 70-year reign ended and that of her son and heir, King Charles, began.

He has been vocal about wanting to modernize the monarchy and already has made some bold moves: kicking non-working royals Harry and Meghan out of their UK residence and refusing to let shamed brother Andrew back into The Firm.

His coronation occurs May 6, but it is not only Charles who is in charge. Behind the scenes there are two powerful women who wield a great deal of power, Queen Consort Camilla and Princess Kate.

Royal Family News: Camilla Now Queen

Camilla Parker Bowles was infamously referred to by King Charles’ wife the late Diana, as the “third” person in their failed marriage. When she and Charles wed years later it’s safe to say her picture was to be found under the word ‘reviled’ in the UK dictionary.

Some did not wish the home wreaker to be named Queen out of respect to the Diana. And yet in the end Her Majesty herself told the nation that Camilla would receive the title.

Royal Family News: Camilla Once Despised

The Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, will follow Charles and Camilla on the throne. They are the country’s most popular couple: a YouGov poll shows that Prince William has an approval rating of 72 percent and Princess Kate is right behind him at 70 percent. At the end of last year they were the most popular royals among Americans.

Royal Family News: The Wales’ Most Popular

Many have pegged level-headed, gracious Kate as the future of the monarchy. She has never had a more visible presence and in February she debuted “Shaping Us,” an initiative to raise awareness about early childhood development.

It is not insignificant that prior to this the majority of her work was in tandem with her husband, for example “Heads Together,” a mental health project.

Royal Family News: The Markles Are Not Popular

Into this equation it seems heretical to insert Harry and Meghan the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. They extracted themselves from the monarchy and his family in 2020 and have tossed them like a rag doll ever since. At the same time they whine about wanting their titles and being front and center at royal events. To the world at large they are ill mannered children wanting to both eat and have their cake, too.
