British royal family news shows that 95-year-old Queen Elizabeth has had to cancel planned virtual events in light of her positive COVID-19 status. Buckingham Palace announced Sunday that the monarch was diagnosed with the virus but said at the time that she would carry out virtual meetings. Her diagnosis came ten days after her son Charles, who she was exposed to, tested positive. She was to have worked from home, but now that plan has been scrapped.

This latest development, that the queen is not deemed well enough to appear on camera, has ramped up the anxiety level for the beloved queen who has enjoyed mass popularity during her 70-year reign.

Her health woes became apparent last fall when she was hospitalized overnight for an undisclosed ailment. At the time it was said she was there for “preliminary investigations.”

In a statement announcing the decision to cancel virtual events, the palace stated that the queen, “is still experiencing mild cold like symptoms,” and has since, “decided not to undertake her planned virtual engagements today.” It was noted that while the pre-planned events were off, she, “will continue with light duties.”

According to CNN, this is likely to include her head of state responsibilities such as reading documents and answering letters. The rest of the week’s activities will be, “decided in due course.”

Royal Family News – The Queen Is Ailing

The Queen’s diagnosis was announced on Sunday. Her Majesty is thought to be vaccinated and boosted, and it was stated that she was showing “mild cold-like symptoms” and would continue “light duties” at Windsor Castle where she has continued, “to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines.”
