Royal Family News: Queen Elizabeth Greets Prince William And Kate Middleton At The End Of Their Royal Train Tour

Queen ElizabethBritish royal family news reveals that Queen Elizabeth was joined by her family today as the whole clan came together at Windsor Castle to honor volunteers and essential workers during the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to the queen, the Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, The Earl and Countess of Wessex and The Princess Royal were all present.

The temperatures were freezing as the group maintained social distancing on the steps of Equerries’ entrance at Windsor Castle. There they were given a serenade of Christmas carols by the Regent Hall Band of the Salvation Army.

The Windsor Clan Came Together To Honor The Hardworking Men And Women On The Front Lines

The Duke and Duchess arrived at Windsor Castle after completing their royal train tour of England, Scotland and Wales. Along with Kate Middleton and Prince William, the event gave the rest of the royals a chance to recognize groups and charities who work helping others during the Christmas season.

The two-day tour saw the royal pair travel over 1,000 miles across the UK to pay tribute to the work of key workers and communities during the COVID-19 crisis.

Before their afternoon return, they had an engagement in Reading to meet nurses at the Royal Berkshire Hospital where Kate was born at on January 9, 1982. Graham Sims, chairman of Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, said to her, “Welcome back.”

The tour was endorsed by the Prime Minister but Welsh and Scottish ministers were cool to the news of the trip given that the entire nation is in lockdown for a second time, with travel severely restricted due to coronavirus restrictions.

The last day of the tour began in Wales, where Kate and William visited Cardiff Castle. There they met with university students to talk about mental health challenges while COVID has dominated the world.

And in keeping with the spirit of the season the pair participated in a socially distanced Secret Santa gift exchange with six students who had isolated together prior to the visit.

While they were in Wales Kate talked a little bit about how she and William were planning Christmas events but were having trouble deciding exactly what to do.

William said, “It is so difficult, we are still trying to make plans. It’s difficult to know what to do for the best.”
