British royal family news reveals that there is legit reason for the clan staying silent in the aftermath of Prince Harry’s torrid memoir Spare. The 400-page epic dropped last month and the world was shocked by the scandalous assertions and blue descriptions Harry choose to include.

The dignified family likewise kept quiet after Netflix aired the steamy biopic Harry & Meghan last December. The bombshells were both scurrilous and harsh, so why hasn’t the family hit back?

Royal expert Katie Nicholl told Time magazine that the family hasn’t said anything because that would only add fuel to the fire. She said that, “Dignified silence is a tried and tested format.” That wasn’t the case after the trashy pair aired dirty laundry to Oprah in 2021 however.

The royal pundit stated, “The palace is reluctant to engage at any level because once they do, it just fuels the narrative.” She added: “Harry has made so many allegations it’s almost impossible to address every one.” According to Nicholl the family is using, “a sensible strategy,” to counter Harry’s trashy talk.

It is a strategy that the royals have used for some time, with their motto being, ‘never complain, never explain.’ As Nicholl noted, Harry’s late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, “only responded when she absolutely had to and it was often short and succinct.” Nonetheless Harry sniped in Spare that the royal family does plenty of whining and explaining, just not in support of him.

PR expert Tim Jotischky agreed with Nicholl’s assessment: “Sometimes the hardest thing in PR is to tell a client that the right course of action is to say nothing when your reputation is under attack. The understandable reaction is to hit back, but it can often be the best advice.” But, while both pundits see the current public strategy as wise, they agree that the family should address the scandal internally.
