In addition, the coronavirus pandemic has limited the public role played by the older royals.

Popular opinion polls confirm that Prince William and Kate are hugely popular and many fans would love to see them slide into the role vacated by Queen Elizabeth.

Royal Family News – Will William Become King Instead of Charles?

A YouGov poll conducted at the end of August showed that William and Kate are the second and third most popular members of The Firm—Queen Elizabeth is number one, naturally. Perhaps it is public sentiment like this that has Camilla worried?

Of the 1,000 adults surveyed, 72 percent thought positively of the Duke of Cambridge, and 64 percent thought positively of Kate. Just 45 percent of those polled thought positively of Prince Charles and Camilla was the tenth most popular royal. Maybe Camilla is on to something?
