Royal Family News: The Queen Is Back At Work After Prince Philip’s death

British royal family news shows that Queen Elizabeth held her first in-person royal duty following the death of her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Philip passed away at the age of 99 at Windsor Castle last Friday.
On Tuesday the 94-year-old monarch hosted an event at Windsor Castle for Earl Peel, who recently left his post as Lord Chamberlain.
Lord Chamberlain’s Office oversees the Queen’s spate of ceremonial events, said to include everything from garden parties and state visits to royal weddings and the state opening of Parliament.
Royal Family News – The Queen Returns To Royal Duties
The Tuesday event was recorded in the Court Circular which is a list of daily duties and events conducted by the royal family.
Pertaining to the event, the circular read: “The Earl Peel had an audience of The Queen today, delivered up his Wand and Insignia of Office as Lord Chamberlain and the Badge of Chancellor of the Royal Victorian Order and took leave upon relinquishing his appointment as Lord Chamberlain, when Her Majesty invested him with the Royal Victorian Chain.”
It was also reported that the monarch had a telephone call with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Saturday morning.
Royal Family News – Queen Elizabeth Is Back To Work
The Court Circular also showed that Princess Anne, the Queen and Prince Philip’s only daughter, had a video call Tuesday for the Spring Conference of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine, of which she is patron.
Despite their return to official duty, the royal family are observing a two-week period of mourning.
Final preparations are underway for the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral on Saturday at St. George’s Chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
The event will be a decidedly restricted in light of COVID precautions. Whereas previous royal services have been public and lavish, this one is was adapted to fit prevailing coronavirus restrictions.
Nonetheless, the palace has said that the event will be in accordance with Prince Philip’s personal wishes.

Royal Family News – Prince Philip Will be Laid to Rest On Saturday
Current Covid-19 rules in England limit the number of people who can attend funerals to 30 and it is thought that the mourners will be family members only.
In light of the funeral preparations there are controversies owing to relocated Prince Harry having returned home to attend the service and disgraced Prince Andrew has reportedly requested to wear an Admiral’s uniform forcing the queen to make a ruling prior to Saturday.
