British royal family news reveals that Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland, is once again making noises about the country becoming independent. It is unlikely that any member of the Royal Family will talk about the matter, according to a royal expert, but they are likely to be displeased.
According to expert Ingrid Seward, “Of course the Queen doesn’t want Scotland to be independent. She’s all for unity. I think for Scotland to be independent is not something she would want at all.”

Members of the Royal Family normally avoid commenting on politics per traditional protocol. Seward thinks the royals will maintain this protocol and the queen will stay the course with this politically charged issue.
Senior royals don’t vote and traditionally do not take sides during political crises. Seward says, “It’s too soon and because of the state of the country at the moment they really can’t be seen to be interfering in anything. Their role is one of support rather than interference.”

Based on the Royal Family’s love for Scotland it is thought the Queen would not want the country to be independent. For one thing, she and other family members live at Balmoral in Scotland during the summer.
Additionally, the Queen’s mother and sister had strong links to the country as Princess Margaret was born at Glamis Castle in August 1930.
In 1952 the Queen Mother bought the Castle of Mey following the death of King George VI, and it was her second home for many decades.
According to Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter Princess Eugenie, Her Majesty is, “most happy” when she is in Scotland over the summer.
Seward told Newsweek, “Balmoral is the place they all love most. They really, really love Scotland. That’s where they want to be.”
