British royal family news shows that William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, got glowing reviews in 2021 for the positive roles they played in the monarchy as it seemed about to go down in flames. First there was the self-righteous fury unleashed by Harry and Meghan as they threw a relentless barrage of verbal torpedoes at the monarchy. Most recently it has been Andrew who has brought shame to the family, to the point that he was basically excommunicated this week. But apparently there was a once a moment of disquiet between them that was anything but regal.

Prince William and Kate met in their first year of studies at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland in 2001. In 2021 they celebrated ten years of marriage and they have three beautiful children together. One day William will inherit the throne and at that time Kate will take the title of queen consort.
Through the years fun stories about the pair have been told and Katie Nicholl wrote in her 2015 book, Kate: The Future Queen, that the pair liked to attend dinner parties when they were students, so as to avoid the pesky paparazzi. Kate has talked about her love of cooking for her family and she often cooked for the parties and William attended. Nicholl wrote in her book, “One thing William could be relied on for was supplying copious bottles of Jack Daniel’s for the popular after-dinner drinking games.”

According to the author, the popular game, ‘Never Have I Ever,’ was often played. Apparently one time the game got a bit dicey and the couple were left miffed.
In the book, readers learn that, “Prince William and Kate loved the game, but it went a bit wrong on one occasion when Carly came for dinner.” Who’s Carly? That would be Carly Massy-Birch, reportedly William’s first girlfriend at St. Andrew’s. We can see where this is going!
Nicholl’s source said, “She [Carly] and William were still friends, and she lived across the road in Howard Place. She could literally wave to William from her sitting room, which rather grated on Kate.”

The source went on to say, “When it was Carly’s turn to play, she announced, ‘I’ve never dated two people in this room,’ knowing full well that Prince William was the only one who had because Kate was sitting next to him.”
William allegedly, “shot Carly a thunderous look and said under his breath, ‘I can’t believe you just said that’ before drinking his shot.”
How did Kate respond? She was not impressed with the comment, and a source maintains that Kate did not talk to Carly much afterward. The room was “in shock” as, “We knew they were together, but it was the first time William confirmed his and Kate’s relationship.”
