British Royal new reveals ITV News Royal Editor Chris Ship is talking about how United Kingdom Remembrance Day this year will be unlike any other in recent memory. He said, “It is the day when traditionally Queen Elizabeth and other members of the Royal Family gather around the Cenotaph on Whitehall in central London. This year because of Covid it will be a bit different.”

ITV producer Lizzie Robinson concurred, “For the first time in history, this will be a closed event, so members of the public are being asked not to turn out and instead to commemorate from home which is not surprising.”

According to Ship, “This is the first time that the public has been asked not to attend the Cenotaph’s history. It will be a private event. We still presume that Prince Charles will lay the wreath on behalf of the nation, as he has done in recent years. Veterans will be there but very few of them and socially distanced and the rest of it.”

The Royal Family’s ‘Most Important Event Of The Year’ Is Very Different

This year Remembrance Sunday marks a hundred years since the Cenotaph on Whitehall was built. The memorial event in which Royal Family members lay wreaths at the Cenotaph annually is considered to be, “the most important event of the year for the Royal Family.”

In a typical year, 10,000 participants are expected to gather at the Cenotaph for the ceremony and a two-minute silence at 11 am.

Instead of its usual plans, this year the royals will have a “closed-door ceremony marking Remembrance Day.”

Prince Charles, Princess Anne And Prince William Are Expected To Lay Wreaths On The Cenotaph

It is thought that the Queen, Kate Middleton, and Camilla Parker Bowles will stand on the Foreign Office balcony to view the ceremony including Prince Charles, Princess Anne, and Prince William laying down wreaths.

Days ago palace insiders created a buzz when they told The Sun that Prince Harry will not be allowed to join the royals at the service. Even if he is barred from paying his respect at the Cenotaph as a royal, some have speculated that he could make an appearance due to his military service.

Harry is now living in Montecito, California with Meghan Markle after the two pulled Megxit, a very messy and public divorce from royal life, his family, and the country.

According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, who spoke to Vanity Fair, “Nonetheless, the news that Harry won’t be coming home will likely be disappointing for the Queen, who is said to miss her grandson and great-grandson Archie, whom she has not seen for a year.”
