What Kate Middleton Lost When She Married Prince William

One of the most popular couples of today’s generation is Kate Middleton and Prince William. But the relationship between the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is not normal, based on the standards of most people. From being an ordinary university boyfriend and girlfriend, Kate and William turned into a royal husband and wife, with other priorities and responsibilities.

Marrying into the royal family, Kate has lost her original identity. According to royal author Marcia Moody in her book, “Kate: A Biography” in 2013, when Kate and William’s relationship blossomed from a firm friendship, “some who knew them both had remarked that Kate seemed to perhaps be losing her identity.”

Of course, Kate Middleton had lots to do to fit into Prince William’s world. Inevitably, she made more sacrifices and compromises than her royal husband. The Duke of Cambridge has royal duties, and “any potential partner would have to accommodate” that, said Michael Choong, a friend of the couple from their university days.

“She was still only 21 and going through a period of readjustment, while dealing with some extraordinary circumstances,” Moody added.

Kate And William Had A Low Key Relationship At First

Kate and William’s relationship had been low-key and the public only started to really notice Kate after their engagement was announced.

But Kate Middleton has done well up to now, building a great public approval rating over the years. Kate and William had a brief breakup before they were engaged, but they managed to get through it much stronger. Losing your identity is a given when marrying, whether you are a royal or not, as you become one with your spouse.

Meghan Markle, who married Prince Harry, also made sacrifices and left a part of her identity behind. After dating Prince Harry for a short period, the two got engaged. Meghan then had to leave her acting career, quitting her role in American TV series Suits, and also had to shut down all her social media accounts.
