But she didn’t. When Princess Diana humiliated The Firm 25 years ago with her jaw-dropping tell-all interview with Martin Bashir, there was nowhere for Diana to go but out. So you would think history would repeat itself when her son did much the same. But you’d be wrong and here’s why.
Why Did Her Majesty Treat Harry And Meghan Differently Than She Treated Princess Diana?
SheKnows spoke to Robert Lacey, the author of the royal tell-all Battle of Brothers: Prince William and Harry — The Inside Story of a Family in Tumult, and he spilled the dirt about the queen’s non-reactionary behavior after Megxit.
According to Lacey, the queen and her husband Prince Philip, “had long ceased being fans of their ex-daughter-in-law.”
Meghan has largely followed in Diana’s footsteps in condemning the royals in a very public fashion. But Lacey thinks the queen has an ulterior motive in not snubbing the rude relation.

Does The Queen Think That Meghan Markle Has A Big Part To Play As The Monarchy Moves Through The 21st Century?
He said, “There’s a political sense…in which the queen welcomed her as a first mixed-race recruit to the royal family. And so it must be distressing for the queen that 30 months later, this mixed-race recruit and her mixed-race son Archie are no longer classed as royal. They’ve been suspended from the royal family.”
“If everybody welcomed Meghan as a sign of the royal family’s contact with Black Lives Matter and racial progress and harmony in this country, what does it mean when they’re separate from the royal family?” he asks theoretically.
He believes that Her Majesty is aware that an all-white royal family does not represent the totality of her commonwealth, and wishes Meghan to play a bigger role in The Firm someday.
Does The Queen Have Another More Personal Reason For Not Snubbing Meghan?

Lacey thinks that there is a second reason the queen wishes to retain a relationship with Meghan and one that is much more personal. He claims, “There’s a sense in which the queen is closer emotionally to William and Harry than she is to her own sons. Whenever she’s been with Meghan, she’s exhibiting the most cordial, outgoing affection for her. We know that’s what she feels for Harry. We can presume that she will welcome anybody who makes her grandson happy.”
Much has been made of the fact that it is believed the queen will allow Harry and Meghan to return to the fold anytime they want, a privilege that Diana was not given. Is it because, as Lacey asserts, that Meghan Markle’s value is worth a little fuss in exchange for what she brings to the table?
