Royal Family News – Decision To Hire A Nanny Goes Sour

Royal Family news reveals that, according to The Mirror, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex originally wanted to avoid the use of a nanny to raise their children. However, they later elected to hire a night nurse to help them out and that experience reportedly went sour.

Express UK reports that the previous “night-time” incident left them nervous when hiring a second one. Royal biographer Omid Scobie wrote of the incident in a biography for the royal couple, “Finding Freedom.”

Bad Nanny Experience Erodes Trust for Prince Harry and Meghan

Scobie, and co-author Carolyn Durand, wrote that the Sussexes “decided to hire a night nurse to establish a sleep schedule and be an extra pair of helping hands.” The book further claimed that despite this, the nanny’s time with the Sussex’s was “brief”.

“Meghan and Harry were forced to let the nurse go in the middle of her second night for being unprofessional and irresponsible.” Soon after the incident, Scobie writes, the couple hired a second nanny and indicated that they were “nervous” with the new nanny despite the fact that they were doing a “fine job.”

“Neither found themselves comfortable sleeping through the night without going to check on Archie regularly.”

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Find A Good Nanny

Contrary to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s nanny who lived-in, the Sussexes’ nanny didn’t reside at Frogmore Cottage. The book explained that Harry and Meghan had agreed they didn’t want their home filled with staff as Harry had been witness to the situation at his elder brother’s house and didn’t want that for his family.

“He and Meghan liked the idea that when they went to bed at night, it was just the three of them in the house. Cozy and private.” The plan apparently went well as Meghan gushed about the nanny Lorren Khumalo in the couple’s Netflix Series Harry & Meghan.

The Good Nanny Speaks

Speaking in the docuseries about how she came upon the nanny job Khumalo said, “I had this phone call, and they were like ‘Prince Harry and Meghan would like to see you and speak to you about looking after Archie’. I was like, ‘hang on a minute, I need to sit down’.

“I remember just driving so fast, I think I did get a ticket, yes, I did. When I arrived at Frogmore Cottage, I see this guy, he’s tall, he’s ginger and he’s walking barefoot, and I have gone and bought a new pair of shoes in Clarks.

“And suddenly whatever I thought or felt, the formality just sort of slipped and I felt so at ease. They were really hands-on parents, in the morning when [Archie] woke up, first thing, mum and dad would come in, they would be with their baby, she would feed him, and then after that, I’ll take over and normally, we would go for a morning walk.”
