Why Will Prince Edward’s Kids Have To Work For A Living?

Perhaps hoping to avoid the pitfalls that come with titles and notoriety, Sophie Wessex claims that the children she has with Prince Edward, Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn will most likely not use the title HRH. She has also shared a bit of the family’s life and her hopes for her children in an interview with Sunday Times Magazine.

The Countess, 55, said she looks forward to the day that Lady Louise Windsor, 16, might go to college as she is, “she is quite clever.”

Before the schools went on hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, the teen was working toward her GCSE exams. Proud mom Sophie said of her hard-working daughter, “She’s working hard and will do A-levels. I hope she goes to university. I wouldn’t force her, but if she wants to. She’s quite clever, so I think probably, whereas James I don’t know.”

Sophie went on to explain that her two children will not take on official royal roles and that they are being raised with the understanding that most likely they will have to work for a living like most of the earth’s individuals.

“Hence we made the decision not to use HRH titles. They have them and can decide to use them from 18, but I think it’s highly unlikely,” she said.

“I guess not everyone’s grandparents live in a castle, but where you are going is not the important part, or who they are. When they are with the Queen, she is their grandmother.”

“We try to bring them up with the understanding that they are very likely to have to work for a living,” adding that they try to make sure the kids enjoy normal lives by attending a regular school and participate in sleepovers and parties.”

Lady Louise was born prematurely and weighed less than 5 pounds. She had esotropia an eye condition in which the eyes turn inward. Since then she has had two operations to improve her sight and now sees perfectly.

Sophie has spoken of the traumatic birth in which she lost nine pints of blood. In 2014 she opened the neonatal ward at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey and became very emotional and teary when she met the midwives who saved her life.
