Bear Brown went on social media this week and gave a candid glimpse into the future of Alaskan Bush People (ABP). He said Discovery never canceled the show, and he explained why he believes that.
Was The Show Canceled?
No word about a new season arrived, so when Bear finally opened up about the future, many fans felt a bit of hope that it might return. The new information arrived two days ago via a video on TikTok, which you can watch further down in the article.
In the video, Bear noted that he doesn’t usually “answer specific questions” about the show. However, he thought it was “okay” to answer those who clamoured for news about whether the show was canceled or not. The short answer is that it wasn’t canceled. Instead, it’s been put on “hiatus.”
Why The Hiatus?
Explaining it so everyone could understand, the prominent member of the “wolfpack” told his followers that historically, when the network canceled shows, they “announced” it. However, that hasn’t happened with the Brown family. Instead, it’s been put on the “backburner”

The reason for no new seasons, the reality TV star said, is because of a large “merger.” In fact, he emphasized that the show “has not been canceled.” Due to the merger, it’s taking time for the execs to get “Their ducks in a row.”
Furthermore, he noted that a hiatus is different from a cancellation. So possibly, fans might get to watch the family on their adventures again.
The Next Generation Is A Time-Filler?
The fact that Bear talked about self-filming two other shows made the future of ABP after Season 14 seem uncertain. However, it makes sense that the family might try and film to earn something and retain a fanbase while the big bosses work out the future of all their shows.
One of the “spinoffs,” if we can call it that, was titled Behind the Scenes With Bear Brown. However, nothing seems to have happened. Meanwhile, more recently, he talked about the Next Generation, which he pushed more than once on social media
The rumors of cancellation started when InTouch Weekly suggested the Brown family might have lost their show because of “a lawsuit.” It had something to do with “the estate” of Ami Brown’s late husband, Billy.
However, a subsequent article stepped back from that. So, it’s possible that Discovery confirmed to the outlet what Bear has now addressed.
Fans reacted positively in the comments. So, it seems that when the show returns, plenty of happy fans will tune in and watch it again.
