BBC One has revealed the premiere date for its Dracula television series. The supernatural series is gearing up for the January 2020 season. But the series has yet to confirm a premiere date on Netflix. The television series is a live-action remake of Braun Stoker’s iconic vampire novel of the same name, which has been adapted and rebooted many times over the years. Now the story is coming to life once again through the eyes of Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat for BBC One and Netflix.
It’s not the first time that the two have worked together. They previously worked together on BBC’s hit show, Sherlock. Claes Bang stars as Dracula alongside John Heffernan taking on the role of Jonathan Harker. The rest of the cast includes the likes of Dolly Wells, Joanna Scanlan, and Morfydd Clark. Dracula is expected to be different than Sherlock in which it’s a period piece that’s mixed with supernatural horror elements.
However, Dracula will be similar to Sherlock in which the series will include three feature-length episodes that are spread throughout an equal number of days on BBC One, according to a report via ScreenRant. That’s because Sherlock veteran Paul McGuigan will be directing one of the episodes, while the rest will be handled by Damon Thomas and Johnny Campbell. The latter two have previously worked on other television shows such as In The Flesh and Penny Dreadful.
Dracula should be available on Netflix. However, a release date has yet to be announced. The series is expected to air for three days on BBC One starting Jan. 1, 2020. The announcement video and trailer was unveiled on BBC One’s official Twitter account. It’s hard to say when Dracula will arrive to Netflix. The company is notorious for announcing movies and television shows before they even start streaming on the platform. And most of those programs aren’t released until a year or so later.

It’s also unclear how long fans will have to wait after the BBC premiere for the show to drop on Netflix. The streaming platform is currently in a battle with Britbox over its British content. But Netflix shouldn’t wait too long for Dracula to premiere across the pond. Supernatural fans can look forward to watching Dracula on BBC one the same day as Doctor Who Season 12 makes it debut.
