Below Deck Med: Joe Bradley Burns Bridges For Captain Sandy

Below Deck Med - Joe Bradley - Bravo

Below Deck Med Season 10 saw the return of Joe Bradley, and he revealed that he burned some bridges to get to work under Captain Sandy again. You might recall that in the previous season, he got into a love triangle on the Mustique with Bri Muller and Elena “Ellie” Dubaich. Well, the messy situation seems to have been forgotten now.

Burning Bridges

Parade reported this week that Joe spoke with them about his return to Below Deck Med. It seems that he wasn’t asked back and was unaware that the crew was filming a new season. However, he got a text message from Captain Sandy Yawn requesting he join the vessel. And he was so keen on it that he basically dumped the captain he was working for at the time.

He told the outlet:

I got the phone call or the text message, and I was like, I’ve got less than 48 hours to go on a boat that’s a good couple of miles away, and I need to work under Captain Sandy. And I burned that bridge, and I was on that boat.

The man with a passion for stews on the Bravo show rushed off and thought it quite amusing that the person he was working for was upset by his lack of dedication. Joe Bradley told the outlet, “The captain was shouting and screaming, like, ‘How can you leave this boat tomorrow?’ But I was like, ‘I don’t care. It’s what I have to do.’”

Why Did He Return?

Season 10 already saw a lot of drama and a turnover of crew members under the guidance of Nathan Gallagher. Crew member Christian managed to leave a guest stranded, and Tessa didn’t live up to expectations either. Chef Josh Bingham had it up to here with his charter full of vegans and left in a rage.

Perhaps Captain Sandy felt that an experienced hand on the vessel under Aesha Scott and Nathan was the best way to go. Anyway, Joe Bradley got his old job back, and that merely escalated competition and internal drama.

Talking About Drama

Joe also told the outlet that the previews so far don’t show half the issues that face the crew. But that’s normal for the Bravo show that seems way over the top sometimes.

He explained, “Seeing the season trailer, put it this way…it’s nothing to what’s actually going to come.” Calling the trailer just a “practical tease…That is nothing to what you’re about to witness.”
