“Ethan has to overcome both the physical and emotional trauma of being shot,” revealed the Chicago Med showrunner. “We also want to see how his near-death experience changes his outlook.”

For instance, Dr. Ethan Choi and Dr. Dean Archer previously clashed. But after Choi tried to save Archer from that troubled patient and got shot, it was Archer who performed the surgery that saved Ethan’s life. As a result, the two doctors’ relationship will become even more complicated this season.

While we already know that Maggie and Ethan have developed a friendship, Chicago Med season 7 spoilers also reveal that Dr. Crockett Marcel will share the Chicago Med floors with Choi. In addition to Ethan, sneak peeks indicate that Marcel may work closely with Dr. Pamela Blake.

And Yaya’s exit from Chicago Med means that questions about Ethan’s and April’s relationship remain unanswered. We last saw the couple acknowledging their strong feelings for each other. Will Chicago Med at least give us a chance for closure?

At this point, Yaya has stated that she does not plan to permanently return to the Chicago Med cast. But she has offered some hope for fans of Ethan and April. The actress revealed recently that she would “absolutely” take on a guest star role to finalize the romance.
