Mandy Moore Reacts To ‘This Is Us’ Emmy Snub

This Is Us” fans, cast and crew, and many TV reviewers assumed that the show would get several Emmy nods. And in particular, Mandy Moore as Rebecca seemed like a given. But all those assumptions proved wrong. And Moore just responded, per People.

Turning to her Instagram, the 38-year-old actress first took time to praise her husband Taylor Goldsmith. “This Is Us” did receive one nomination. And it came from Goldsmith’s efforts. That nomination in the outstanding original music and lyrics category recognized Taylor’s lyrics for the song “Day Of The Wedding / Song Title: The Forever Now.” Mandy sang the song composed by Siddhartha Khosla in April’s “The Day of the Wedding” episode.

“So unendingly proud of @siddkhoslamusic and @taylordawesgoldsmith for getting an Emmy nom for their song ‘Forever Now’ on our final season of #ThisIsUs,” shared Moore in her Instagram Story. However, Mandy then admitted that she felt disappointed about the snub. “Do I wish our show was recognized in what I think was its finest hour? Sure. And Dan Fogelman’s brilliant writing for 6 seasons (hello THE TRAIN)? @kenolin1’s impeccable direction? Our insanely, wildly talented cast and crew? Yah [sic]….”

‘This Is Us’ Creator Dan Fogelman Joins Mandy Moore In Emmy Reactions

Mandy finished her reflections on the Emmy snub on a positive note. “But nothing can take away what our show meant to SO MANY (us included),” she noted. “That’s an incredible legacy to be a part of. I will be grateful forever. #thisisus”

And “This Is Us” creator Dan Fogelman also responded to the Emmy snub. Turning to Twitter, Dan took a philosophical approach. “The Emmy noms didn’t break for #ThisIsUs today,” tweeted Fogelman. “if you’re happy when they go your way, you’ve got to take it on the chin when they don’t. That entire group wins a ‘Danny’ in my book. And so proud that my college roomie @SiddKhoslaMusic will be repping us with Taylor!”

However, both Moore and the show have previously earned plenty of recognition. For instance, Mandy received nominations at the 2019 Emmy Awards and 2017 Golden Globes. And she also took home two Screen Actors Guild Awards for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. In all, the show has reaped over 35 Emmy nominations. Winners include Sterling K. Brown in 2017, Ron Cephas Jones, and Gerald McRaney.

I am boycotting the Emma’s this year. Will not watch. This season was absolutely great and for only 1 nomination to have occurred is disappointing. I will not watch. This Is Us was the best show on TV. Tuesdays will never be the same to me.
