Eugene Levy and Dan Levy Set To Co-host Primetime Emmy Awards

Eugene Levy and Dan Levy Set To Co-host Primetime Emmy AwardsEugene Levy and his son Dan Levy will host the 76th Emmy Awards on Sunday, 15 September 2024. This will be the first time a father-and-son duo has hosted the Emmy Awards.

“We are thrilled to welcome two generations of comedy genius to the Emmy’s stage as hosts,” said Cris Abrego, Chairman of the Television Academy. “Eugene and Dan Levy are known for creating unforgettable laugh-out-loud moments on screen, and together, they are super-charged. I cannot wait for Emmy fans to see what they have in store for all of us.”

Schitt’s Creek – Success At The 2020 Emmys

The Levys have a lot of experience being on the Emmys stage. In 2020, the pair swept the awards show, with their series ‘Schitt’s Creek,’ winning multiple trophies.

That year, Eugene Levy, then 77, won Outstanding Comedy Actor and Outstanding Comedy Series, as executive producer. His son Dan, 40 at the time, won Outstanding Comedy Series, as an executive producer, and picked up three more awards that evening for writing, directing, and Best Supporting Comedy Actor.

“For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough. We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all on September 15,” they said in a joint statement.

A Big Year For Eugene Levy

When the Emmys broadcast live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on 12 September, it will air on ABC and stream the next day on Hulu.

This year has been a busy one for Eugene Levy, who was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in January, and who was cast on ‘Only Murders in the Building’ for season four.

He also earned a nomination for Apple TV+’s travel series ‘The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy’ in the Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special category.

Eugene and Dan Levy are the first duo to host the Emmys since 2018 when ‘Saturday Night Live’ stars Colin Jost and Michael Che took on the role. Shōgun and The Bear had the most nominations at this year’s 76th Primetime Emmy Awards, with 25 and 23 nominations respectively.

The night promises to be one filled with laughter, celebration, and history as Eugene and Dan Levy bring their unique comedic flair to the Emmy stage.
