FBI: Most Wanted Recruits Dylan McDermott As New Series Lead!

Producers for FBI: Most Wanted didn’t wait long in turning their farewells to one lead star into a welcome for a new one. And while soon-to-be ex star Julian McMahon hasn’t even appeared in his final FBI: Most Wanted episode, Dylan McDermott has already made waves as his replacement. But alas, producers didn’t follow the surprising cast news with much detail.

FBI Most Wanted Quickly Casts Actor To Replace Julian McMahon

On March 8, Julian McMahon will appear on FBI: Most Wanted for the last time. The actor starred on the show for three seasons as team leader Jess LaCroix, reported TV Line. As a result, fans expressed shock that the actor would leave after turning into a key cast member since FBI: Most Wanted debuted in January 2020.

But McMahon reportedly made sure to give producers plenty of warning prior to announcing his exit from FBI: Most Wanted in a statement on Saturday. “Over the past few months, the producers of FBI: Most Wanted and I have had discussions about my departure from the show in favor of additional creative pursuits and the transition of my character Jess LaCroix,” stated the actor. “These ongoing conversations have given us an opportunity to orchestrate a seamless and productive way for me to leave the show.”

And now it seems that producers decided Dylan McDermott would offer the show the smoothest way to transition from one lead to another. However, producers declined to provide specifics on his FBI: Most Wanted character. Rumors indicate only that McDermott will definitely take on the role as the new series lead. And reports also point to his debut occurring in April. 

Fans React To FBI: Most Wanted’s New Series Lead

Currently, Dylan McDermott appears as a recurring cast member, crime boss Richard Wheatley, on Law & Order: Organized Crime. But that role has shown McDermott in a very different light than the character he will play on FBI: Most Wanted. As a result, fans expressed mixed reactions to the casting choice.

“Congratulations to Dylan. Love him on Law And Order: Organized Crime and can’t wait to see what he brings to this new role,” gushed one fan. And another chimed in, “Yes!! Love him too on Law/Order going up against Elliott Stabler has been intense. Very good actor!!”

But others disagreed. “Noooooooooo!!!!” wailed one fan of Julian McMahon. And that critic got supported as well. “Couldn’t agree more. Going to be difficult to accept him in Jess LaCroix’s place.”
