Game Of Thrones Actor Loses Cancer Battle

Game Of Thrones fans are mourning the loss of a beloved actor from the HBO franchise.  Ian Gelder’s death has been confirmed after a fierce battle with cancer.  Gelder was well-known for his role as Kevan Lannister, among many other acting credits over the decades.  The Game of Thrones actor’s husband took to social media to share the sad news.  Keep reading for all the details.

Game Of Thrones – Star Death Confirmed

News broke in December 2023 that 74 year old actor Ian Gelder was battling bile duct cancer.  After just five short months, the Game Of Thrones star succumbed to the deadly disease on May 6, 2024.

Gelder’s husband Ben Daniels took to Instagram and shared the news of his husband’s passing. 

Daniels posted a sweet candid snapshot of the happy couple with the heartfelt message, “It is with huge huge sadness and a heavy heart broken into a million pieces that I’m leaving this post to announce the passing of my darling husband and life partner Ian Gelder. Ian was diagnosed with bile duct cancer in December and yesterday he passed at 13.07. I’d stopped all work to be his career but neither of us had any idea that it would all be so fast. He was my absolute rock and we’d been partners for more than 30 years. If we weren’t together we spoke to each other everyday. He was the kindest, most generous spirited and loving human being. He was a wonderful wonderful actor and everyone who worked with him was touched by his heart and light.”

Gelder began booking roles on British TV shows in the 1970’s, and has appeared in several series like Torchwood, Doctor Who, Casualty, EastEnders, Ripper Street, and many more.
