In the Netflix series, Harry Cavill plays Geralt of Rivia, otherwise known as the “witcher” or monster hunter. Witchers must go through rigorous training throughout most of their lives to increase their supernatural abilities and develop mutations. Some of those powers include heightened reflexes and a keen sense of smell. Geralt’s journey throughout the unknown Continent has him up against emperors, kings, monsters, and sorceresses.
Very few details about Season 2 of The Witcher have been released. However, rumors have been swirling about the cast and its 2021 release date. Norwegian actor Kristofer Hivju, most known for his role on HBO’s Game of Thrones, could appear on the Netflix series. His other notable roles include 2017’s The Fate of the Furious and 2014’s Force Majeure.
As Screen Rant reported, rumors of Hivju’s role on The Witcher swirled when director Stephen Surjik posted a photo on Instagram that included the hashtag #kristoferhivju. He has since deleted that post. It’s also been found that Hivju has been following three different Witcher accounts on Instagram.
Nothing has been announced yet. But according to Redanian Intelligence (via Game Rant), it’s been speculated that Hivju could appear as Nivellen, a man that resembled a bear. Geralt could meet up with him in an episode called “A Grain of Truth,” which is also a short story that’s featured in The Lash Wish, the first book in The Witcher series. “A Grain of Truth” is also rumored to take place in the show’s second season. Hivju would be the perfect actor for the role due to his name recognition and incredible physical. Many already believe that The Witcher is Netflix’s answer to Game of Thrones.
