The LA fires that started on Tuesday brought unimaginable devastation to the Los Angeles area in California, and they impacted the production of many TV shows. Read on to see which ones were put on temporary pause.
LA Fires Took Lives & Displaced Thousands Of People
California is not unused to wildfires. And flooding. This time two tears ago, Montecito experienced floods and Ellen DeGeneres seemed panicked about them. Montecito is in the news again with the current fires as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle offered the use of their mansion for displaced loved ones.
Current updates on the LA fires included the news that Hollywood Hills erupted into flames. Additionally, CBS News reported over 100K displaced people and at least five deaths this week. Los Angeles is of course built around the entertainment industry. So, it’s not a massive shock that the production of many TV shows put things on pause.
Production Halted By LA Fires
Deadline reported that the devastation and damage from the fires forced some TV shows to halt production. They included “Sony Pictures Television dramas S.W.A.T. and Spider-Noir .” Other impacted TV shows include:
- Abbott Elementary,
- Grey’s Anatomy,
- NCIS, and
- Hacks.
Additionally, the LA fires caused the suspension of filming for “Jimmy Kimmel Live! and After Midnight.” Other temporary closures previously reported by the outlet revealed:
Warner Bros…closed production on its Burbank-located lot for Wednesday amid strong winds and fires not too far from the Los Angeles suburb. That affects the Warner Bros. TV…multi-camera sitcoms Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage and the upcoming Leanne Morgan project, which had …rehearsals scheduled.
Some Shows Were Able To Continue
TV Shows Ace reported that some production was able to continue as it could be done “remotely.” They said, “These include sitcoms like The Neighborhood and Poppa’s House.” A few premiere events were also canceled for the time being, like “Shifting Gears and The Pitt.”
Hollywood being Hollywood, despite the LA fires, in time, the shows will go on. For now, though, people need to be patient as the devastation destroyed so many lives, homes, and incomes. Famous faces in TV and movie production were not immune.
So far, Paris Hilton’s beach house has gone up in flames. Leighton Meester, Cameron Mathis, and Adam Brody’s homes burned down in Pacific Palisades. Plenty of other stars were evacuated. Meanwhile, Governor Gavin Newsome reportedly claimed he couldn’t get ahold of President Joe Biden. That came after a woman confronted him over the lack of water to control the wildfires.
