Loki Series Could Introduce a Female Loki, According to Insiders

Loki (Tom Hiddleston)

The new Disney+ series Loki may have a female version of the Trickster God who’s well-known in the Marvel movies and comic books. An inside source has revealed that Loki may be introduced in the female form. Loki was reintroduced as a woman in The Mighty Avengers saga, which was published in 2009. The character assembled her team of Avengers as she disguised herself as The Scarlet Witch.

In addition, Marvel Press released a young adult novel written by Mackenzi Lee which featured Loki as gender-fluid and pansexual. It looks like that could very much happen in the MCU, even on a family-friendly platform.

Sophia Di Martino Joins Loki On Disney Plus

Over the weekend, it was reported that Sophia Di Martino will appear alongside Tom Hiddleston in the Loki series. The British actress has appeared in several small roles on the small screen. Last summer, Di Martino had a supporting role in Yesterday.

However, the recent reports wouldn’t reveal the details of Di Martino’s role in the Loki series. Variety originally broke news about the actress, although it was unclear what role she would be playing. In addition, Marvel has not made an official announcement on the new casting. Sources close to the Disney+ series revealed that Di Martino could have a significant role on the series.

Disney+ Insiders Hint First Female Loki

According to a separate report via Deadline, an insider claimed that the actress could very well play the female version of Loki. It also revealed that Di Martino’s role could be a full-time role but that hasn’t been confirmed. All that’s known is that Loki is expected to drop in spring of 2021 on the Disney+ platform which launched last week. Michael Waldron will take over as the showrunner.

It’s expected to feature the male Loki as he pops up throughout significant events in human history. But it’s unclear if Loki is coming back from the dead since he was killed by Thanos in the opening scene of Avengers: Infinity War. Fans are also aware that there was a different version of the sinister character in Avengers: Endgame. The Disney+ series could very well fall in line with these recent developments.

This also means that Di Martino’s new role could very well feature a female version of Hiddleton’s famous character. However, there are very little clues about the main plot and what it entails. It’s also interesting to see how a female version of Loki will fare among fans. It depends on the audience itself. While nothing has been officially concerned, this is definitely exciting news for Loki fans.
