British Royal News says that at this point, everyone knows that there were plenty of different factors that led to Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s divorce. But was the prince’s alleged affair with Camilla Parker Bowles the tipping point? Well, it all depends on who you ask. The Crown star Dominic West, who plays Prince Charles on the hit Netflix series, say that Charles’ affair with Camilla was not a marriage breaker at the end of the day. Here’s what you need to know.

In an interview with Grazia, the handsome actor says that while everyone is trying to make Camilla look like the villain in the love triangle between her, Prince Charles, and Diana, there seems to be a lot of fiction mixed in with facts. Dominic puts it this way, “Anybody who has a perspective on divorce knows that the whole blame game becomes irrelevant. And maybe now we see that [Charles and Diana’s] marriage wasn’t a great idea in the first place. I say that without any disrespect to any of the families involved – as Dominic says, hindsight is a valuable thing.”

Now, as far as the infamous tampon conversation that Charles had with Camilla, Dominic does admit that it was a gross invasion of privacy and the kind of conversation between two people that would make anyone feel uncomfortable hearing.

He said, “Back then, a lot of what we learn about Charles and Camilla seemed in some way sordid, or not very appealing. Very often it was a gross invasion of their privacy which feels very squeamish now – when you could read the text of their phone conversations, or ring up a hotline and listen to their phone conversations.”

That said, Dominic also added of Charles and Camilla’s relationship, “What we learnt playing those times and those events – was how actually rather sweet they were together and how romantic it was.”
