ABC The Good Doctor season 4 spoilers reveal that we will see Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) navigate his relationship with Lea Dilallo (Paige Spara). They have been close friends from the beginning, but now it’s gone into romantic territory. Creator and showrunner David Shore explained what we can expect with this new love story.

Even though a lot of viewers were convinced that Shaun and Lea would have a romance since the show’s first season, it went in a different direction. Lea was simply a good friend and Dr. Carly Lever (Jasika Nicole) became Shaun’s girlfriend. However, many viewers felt that she wasn’t good for Shaun. She had control issues, was extremely jealous, and had major issues with Shaun and Lea’s friendship.

However, Carly had her good points, which included really trying to understand how to date a person with autism. She also tried to teach him about non-verbal communication, social cues, and other issues those with autism face. She also clearly had real feelings for him, so it was painful for her to break up with him.

The Good Doctor Season 4 Spoilers – Kissing Lea Dilallo

Even though Shaun and Lea were friends, they had a connection that indicated there might be something more. Seeing this bond first-hand was what led Carly to break up with Shaun. By the time the season 3 finale concluded, Shaun and Lea finally kissed, setting up a new love story for season 4.

The Good Doctor Season 4 Spoilers – Beyond Dating

Creator and showrunner David Shore told Parade how Shaun’s relationship with Lea will be told in a different way from Carly’s. The show’s boss explained that the dynamic of romance is different. It’s no longer a love triangle and it goes beyond just dating.

“This season is taking it a little further than dating. It’s about being in a mature and fully committed relationship and all of the challenges that go with that–the compromises and opportunities that come along with it, what Shaun can teach Lea and what Lea can teach Shaun.”

Shore also explained that Lea has always been in Shaun’s heart and that the two need each other.
