The Good Doctor Season 4 Production Halted

Just when a lot of TV shows are getting back to work, there are some productions that are facing obstacles and challenges. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Good Doctor is one of them. Some issues and concerns about coronavirus testing has forced the series to halt production.

COVID-19 Testing Issues

A spokesperson for Sony Pictures Television told the publication that they are trying to get the testing issues resolved. The spokesperson gave assurances that they are working with the BC Council on getting everything straightened out so filming can get rolling. However, there was no elaboration on what kind of issues with testing they are dealing with.

“There is an issue with COVID-19 testing, which we are working to resolve with the BC Council.”

Coronavirus Testing Conflicts

The website reported that insiders are saying that the issue has to do with the frequency of COVID-19 testing. The BC Council, which is compiled of three different local unions, is requiring less frequent testing for those on set. Some people feel that there should be more testing.

A source explained that COVID-19 is better managed in Canada than in the United States. Therefore, the BC Council doesn’t feel that constant testing is necessary. There are some who feel that easing up on testing and being overconfident could have a negative impact, which might lead to another spike in positive cases. However, the council also hasn’t responded to requests for comment.

What do you think of The Good Doctor halting production just when they are able to get rolling? Do you feel that the BC Council should ramp up testing and not let lower numbers give them a false sense of security? Or do you agree that since Canada’s numbers are lower, that they can ease up on the testing?
