The Mandalorian Merchandise Finally Debuts With Baby Yoda

The Mandelorian - The Child

Disney is rushing The Mandalorian merchandise with a focus on Baby Yoda. A plush toy is finally available for pre-order on ShopDisney, as of Wednesday, Dec. 3. However, the toy won’t ship out until February 2020 or later. In addition, the Funko Pop! versions of Baby Yoda are also available for pre-order on ShopDisney. Buffalo Games also released The Mandalorian puzzle that features “The Child,” which is available for pre-order on Amazon. However, that puzzle won’t ship until later this month.

The most popular character of The Mandalorian on Disney+ isn’t the title character but another character called “The Child.” Disney is trying to roll out merchandise in an effort to keep up with demand. Disney is also trying to avoid spoilers of the television show or the identity of “The Child” by not having the merchandise available until the first episode dropped on Nov. 12.

Disney rolled out the first group of merchandise, which just features the same photo of Baby Yoda, according to WDWInfo.com. Some of them say “The Child” while others feature The Mandalorian logo. Merchandise includes cell phone cases, clothing, mugs, totes, and tumblers featuring the same photo of “The Child.”

Merchandise will also roll out to Amazon, Box Lunch, Hot Topic, Macy’s, Target, and Zazzle as soon as this week. Other apparel is also expected to roll out at the Disney Store, ShopDisney, and the Disney Parks. Some plush dolls and other toys could arrive to store shelves before Christmas, but Hasbro hasn’t confirmed this information. Analysts predict that merchandise featuring “The Child” could be a huge success for Disney.

But the most exciting is the news of a Baby Yoda plush toy. The plush doll is expected to be 11-inches tall and will come with its own hover crib. Not only is the plush available on ShopDisney, but it’s also available for pre-order on Entertainment Earth. According to the product description, the toy consists of a “roto-vinyl head, sparkling glass eyes, and a soft body with a sturdy bean-filled base.” The plush toy is currently $24.99 before shipping and taxes. Even though you can pre-order and make a payment, the plush is only available for pre-orders. The estimated date is between February and May 2020.

This is the first official Baby Yoda toy. While there were types of other Baby Yoda merchandise, they were disappointing to fans. Disney had no idea how popular this character would be with fans. The popularity of “The Child” lead one Star Wars fan to create an unofficial Baby Yoda plush toy. Disney probably caught wind of this news and probably wanted to release its official version as soon as possible.

The Baby Yoda plush toy is as cute as the character itself and is set to become a hit. What are your thoughts on the latest grouping of The Mandalorian merchandise? Sound off soon in the comments section.
