Justin Hartley Stars In ‘Tracker’

This Is Us star Justin Hartley will go from forcing viewers to grab for their tissue boxes to keeping them trying to help him solve mysteries in his new role.

And the This Is Us alum, 46, admitted that portraying a survivalist in the new CBS show “Tracker” will test him physically and mentally via People.

But a sneak peek reveals that Justin’s new series does possess something in common with This Is Us. Because “Tracker” involves the main character Colter Shaw (Hartley) coping with family issues.

However, the difference lies in Shaw’s life as a “lone-wolf survivalist who roams the country as a reward seeker.” And the new CBS series follows Colter as he utilizes his “expert tracking skills to help private citizens and law enforcement solve all manner of mysteries.”

New CBS Series Explore ‘Fractured Family’

But like This Is Us, the new series will reveal how it feels to contend with a “fractured family.” However, Shaw’s focus becomes splintered as he seeks answers. And a sneak peek reveals a woman asking him, “You collect rewards, right?”

However, Shaw responds, “I prefer the term ‘rewardist’.” And as the character carefully moves amid a forest during a quest, he points out, “Everyone’s looking for something.”

But in contrast to the urban scenes that dominated This Is Us, Hartley’s new series shows him in the wilderness. And his character of Shaw expertly gives first-aid services to an injured woman. However, “Tracker” makes it clear that panic never enters the picture for Shaw.

Reward Money Proves Pay-Off In ‘Tracker’

But Shaw makes it clear that he sees himself as a “professional. This is how I make my living,” he adds in a sneak peek. “How you survive is you make quick, smart decisions.”

And the main character focuses on staying calm. “You never let panic take the wheel,” adds Shaw. As a result, when a truck almost falls off a cliff, Shaw comes in for a rescue.

And that leads to the driver offering reward money. “I believe it was 50 grand?” asks Shaw. Previews from that point range from a dash through the forest to a gunpoint stand-off. But romance comes into play as well.

Ben H. Winters created the new show based on The Never Game by Jeffery Deaver. And Hartley both stars and serves as an executive producer. “It’s something so different for me, something I haven’t done in a while,” reflected the This Is Us alum.

And Justin described his new role as “very physical. The guy’s an expert tracker, he takes the law into his own hands. He doesn’t have to play by the same rules necessarily that the lawyers and the cops have to play by,” added the actor.

But Shaw possesses a “mercenary side to him. We also have a lot of levity in our show because he was raised off the grid. He doesn’t get a lot of pop culture references, which lends itself to some hilarious, hilarious comedy.” Tracker premieres after Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024.
