And now This Is Us has given us another reason to reach for that box of tissues.  NBC’s beloved family drama will soon premiere its first episode in its final season.  As a result of that knowledge, the actors themselves have offered several clues to what might happen.

Sterling K. Brown, for example, who plays Randall Pearson, has spilled on his knowledge of the final This Is Us season.

And Chris Sullivan, who portrays Toby, took us behind the scenes of Toby’s life with the Pearson clan.

But when we look at the biggest hints to what This is Us might reveal about this beloved fictional family in season 6, it’s the rumors that have fans getting heated in debate.

First came the flood of rumors connected with Kate Pearson, played by Chrissy Metz.

And now This Is Us fans have turned Twitter into a platform for speculation about the show. Find out the reason for some unexpected confusion about season 6 below!

Fans Turn Creator’s Twitter Post Viral

The most recent flood of rumors came from a surprising source.

Dan Fogelman, famed as the creator of This is Us as well as the ultimate arbitrator of All Things Pearson, decided to post a clue to the final season’s debut on Twitter.

But Fogelman’s attempt at revealing the title of the first season 6 episode resulted in confusion and controversy rather than clarity.

As one baffled fan responded, “Not sure whether that’s profanity being censored or you just trying to hide the actual episode title.”

And the confusion didn’t end there.

Another fan pointed out that Dan had raised more questions than answers with his attempt at hinting at the title.

“So many questions with this title…hopefully to be answered! Can’t wait!! #PearsonQuestionsThisIsUs,” tweeted the follower.

But we have to give the winning response to this fan, who summed up all the confusion, “Well that name will definitely be interpreted in many different ways. Have fun with your season.”

Dan Fogelman Tries To Clear Up This Is Us Confusion From His Own Tweet!

Oops. Fogelman apparently didn’t read the flood of responses from that misleading tweet.

But the studio did, leading to Dan apologizing to his Twitter followers.

“Studio informed me that there’s confusion and asked if I wanted to clarify that this is not the title of our first episode,” tweeted the This Is Us creator.

And he charmed his fans by mocking himself.

“Nope. I just didn’t want to spoil anything and I’m old and bad at internet,” joked Fogelman.

As a result of the confusion, Dan sought to offer a different clue about his previous post.

“It’s the right amount of letters though, so do your thing. #ThisIsUs,” added Dan.

Given that additional clue, This Is Us fans offered some ideas.

Among the highest liked responses:

  • “I can only assume that the censored word is “beginning,” tweeted one This Is Us fan.
  • “Omg and it’s the miguel and rebecca episode showing the beginning of their relationship,” theorized another.
  • And one clever Twitter follower of Fogelman offered this suggestion: “The repeated characters represent the repeated letters?”
