This Is Us Season 6 Spoilers – How Chrissy Metz Impacts Kate Pearon’s This Is Us Weight Loss Storyline

When This Is Us began, viewers learned that Kate Pearson (Chrissy Metz) struggled with her weight.

As a result of that story line, we saw Kate try all types of methods to shed the pounds. From weight loss surgery evaluations to so-called “fat camp,” this character repeatedly tried and failed.

And in real life, Chrissy has talked candidly about Kate’s weight loss trajectory. After initially claiming that her contract required her to shed pounds, Metz subsequently backtracked. She clarified that producers do NOT demand that she lose weight so that Kate’s story can get a happily-ever-after-skinny-girl ending. 

But Chrissy’s lack of weight loss also means that This Is Us writers must find a way to show Kate achieving some sort of change by the end of season 6. 

This Is Us has revealed that Kate’s brother Randall (Sterling K. Brown), for example, found healing in his ongoing quest for answers about his adoption. And in the same way, Kate’s twin Kevin (Justin Hartley) has grown both professionally and personally.

This Is Us Season 6 Spoilers – This Is Us Fans Play Detective To Find Out Kate’s Possible Fate

In This Is Us forums, fans have sought to play detective. 

And in particular, they’ve looked at Chrissy Metz’s most recent Instagram pics. The focus? Does Chrissy appear to have lost weight, gained weight, or maintained?

As a result of those searches, This Is Us fans are sparking spoiler rumors about the potential future of Kate in the final season of This Is Us. 

The three main sneak-peek speculations that involve Chrissy Metz’s Kate include:

• Could Metz be wearing a fat suit? This theory speculates that Metz actually HAS lost weight. But to hide her success from This Is Us fans, Chrissy would wait to do the big reveal as Kate’s final act on the show. 
• Will Chrissy go for weight-loss surgery in the early part of This Is Us’ final season? That decision also could show Kate has achieved her goals. 
• Is it possible that Metz could be replaced by the actress who plays Kate as a teenager? That scenario would involve the talented Hannah Zeile wearing both clothes and cosmetics to resemble a slimmer Chrissy Metz. 

What we do know: Season 6 of This Is Us will feature 18 episodes. That opens the door to using any of the scenarios!
