This Is Us spoilers hint that Kate Pearson, portrayed by Chrissy Metz, faces an uncertain future. As a result of previous flash forwards, some fans have even worried that Kate dies! And Chrissy repeatedly refused to reveal ANYTHING about her character. 

But at last, in a surprisingly honest interview with Us Weekly, Metz FINALLY opened up about Kate’s future. So did Chrissy reveal whether Kate dies before the This Is Us finale? Find out everything Metz shared below!

Chrissy Metz, who soared to fame on This Is Us, relates in so many ways to her character Kate. For instance, both Chrissy and Kate have struggled with their weight all their lives. And the two also have looked for love, thought they found it, and then gone through break-up heartbreak repeatedly.

As a result, many fans also relate to Metz’s character. But they have feared the worst from recent flash-backs. Does Kate die before the upcoming This Is Us finale? Chrissy offered some clues to worried fans. 

And Metz specifically addressed the fact that flash-forward scenes at Kevin’s home have shown ALL the Pearson family members but Kate! Why has Kate repeatedly not shown up as the final season of This Is Us airs? “It’s interesting,” admitted Chrissy. “I know that I have different wigs for different times. But I don’t know if they’re gonna actually finalize me at a particular age or what’s gonna happen.”

Fans have assumed that the This Is Us writers and producers carefully plot every detail for every character. But Chrissy just dropped a bombshell about her character of Kate! And according to Metz, her character’s story arc has actually changed at the last minute. Metz admitted that those changes have resulted in some awkward interviews.

“I have been on interviews where I have said something,” recalled Chrissy. “And then the story has changed and I was like, ‘Oh, gosh.’ So who knows?” But she does feel excited about Kate’s future while admitting the suspense. “I’m not sure because sometimes it’s down to the wire. We’re like, ‘Ah, we’re gonna change something.’ But I can’t wait!”

And Metz also hinted at another clue to future Kate. Her co-stars go through long sessions in the makeup chair to portray older versions of themselves. For instance, Mandy Moore, who plays Rebecca, has spent hours looking like an older Rebecca. But despite that labor-intensive process, Chrissy wants to experience the aging process.

“I would love to see Kate aged up or [in] prosthetics,” she gushed. “Jon [Huertas] and Mandy [Moore] go through three-and-a-half hours of prosthetics. And I’m like, ‘I wanna do that.’ So we’ll see. We’ll see. I hope so.”

But ultimately, Chrissy hopes that fans learn from the final episodes of This Is Us. And that means recognizing that we all need to cope with “life on life’s terms. It’s not really what happens to you but how you react to [it],” she pointed out. “And also that every single one of those characters are just like any person that you might know.”

But that positive dream doesn’t mean Metz won’t shed a few tears at the end. She confessed that the final day on set will see her turning into a “blubbering mess”! Tell us what you think.
