This Is Us Spoilers: Could Madison’s Lack of Friends And Family Turn Kevin Into A Runaway Groom?

This Is Us: Kevin (with Justin HartleyThis Is Us devoted its first four seasons to focusing on the Pearson family. We met the ultimate dad and husband, Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia), his wife Rebecca (Mandy Moore), and the triplets Kevin (with Justin Hartley as the adult, Logan Shroyer as the teen, and Parker Bates as the child),  Kate (with Chrissy Metz as the adult, Hannah Zeile as the teen, and Mackenzie Hancsicsak as the child), and Randall (with Sterling K. Brown as the adult, Niles Fitch as the teen, and Lonnie Chavis as the child).

As a result, we became invested in the future of these characters. And in season 5, the This Is Us writers have rewarded our time by adding more information about the triplets’ significant others.

But while This Is Us fans now know Randall’s wife Beth and Kate’s husband Toby, the show has given us more questions than answers about Kevin’s baby mama/girlfriend Madison. What’s going on with Madison’s lack of both family and friends? Will her dependence on Kevin’s sister Kate and his mother Rebecca cause him to pull a “Runaway Bride” type of situation, getting cold feet before the wedding?

Find out what you need to know below.

This Is Us Spoiler – Kevin Loves His Twins, But Does Sophie Linger In His Life?

In contrast to Kate and Randall, Kevin has never lacked romance in his life. And more than any other woman, his childhood love Sophie seems to linger.

When we look at how Kevin became a father, it didn’t love but a one-night fling that resulted in not one but two kids. We know that he loves his twins… but does Kevin hold more of a place in his heart for Sophie than his baby mama Madison?

The most recent episode hinted at that possibility. During that show, Kevin and Madison headed off for bachelor and bachelorette parties that contained some of the most awkward moments in This Is Us’ history.

At the bachelor party, the re-play of the beloved romantic comedy classic, “Jerry Maguire,” caused Uncle Nicky to theorize that Kevin resembled Jerry, sticking with Madison to do the “right thing.” Oops.

Add in Sophie’s sudden call to Kevin when she learns about his engagement and twins, and this supposedly soon-to-be-wed bachelor seems hesitant about what to do. Even though This Is Us showed Kevin deleting Sophie’s phone number from his contact list, the episode showed enough hesitation on his part to leave us with questions about his future with Madison.

And that brings us to the open book that is Madison.

This Is Us Raises Questions About Madison – Can She Fulfill Kevin’s Needs?

This Is Us has shown that Madison definitely benefits from her relationship with Kevin. Her baby daddy has fulfilled her needs for friends through his sister Kate, family through his welcoming mom Rebecca, and even finance through his acting career.

But is the relationship too one-sided to last? And does Madison have any support from her own family members or friends?

The most recent episode of season five also gave us a look at possible answers. During the bachelorette party, we see Kate setting up an OMG series of questions copied from The Newlywed Game.

Kate asks Madison the questions, waits for her answer, and then shows how Kevin responded. Both Madison and Kate seem worried about his lack of clarity in envisioning a future for Madison, Kevin, and the twins.

And This Is Us also shines a spotlight on Madison’s lack of her own family and friends during the party. Who does Kate choose as the man to go nude as a model for a bachelorette party? Madison’s ex-boyfriend.

While Rebecca gets a lesson in what it means to ghost someone like Madison’s ex did, This Is Us viewers are wondering if there’s a hidden meaning in the discussion of ghosting.

Add in a sad Madison spending the night after her bachelorette party re-watching Kevin struggle to envision their future, and we’re wondering: Is Kevin set to play the male version of Julia Roberts in “Runaway Bride” rather than Tom Cruise in “Jerry Maguire” on his wedding day?
