This Is Us season 4 spoilers confirm Griffin Dunne has been promoted a series regular, Deadline reported. What can fans expect from Nick Pearson? It seems his story will tie in with the current characters, as well as one newcomer: Cassidy Sharp (Jennifer Morrison).

During the season 4 premiere of the hit NBC show, fans met Cassidy Sharp. She was in the military and returned home to her husband and son.

However, she is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and is coping with alcohol. After hitting her young son while lost in her memories of being overseas, she goes to the VA to get help.

While attending a meeting and going over her military and alcohol history, a window suddenly shatters. It turns out that it is Nick Pearson who broke it. Afterward, Nick and Cassidy lock eyes, which means that their paths will cross again. Now, fans are wondering just how their stories will intertwine.

Last season, Kate Pearson (Chrissy Metz), Randall Pearson (Sterling K. Brown) and Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley) went looking for their uncle Nick. Everyone was told he died in the war, but there was a story attached. It was clear from the start that Nick suffers from the same disease as some of his other family members: alcoholism.

Kevin was trying to get him into a program, but Nick was resistant. This is Us season 4, episode 1 revealed that Nick was starting to get in a lot of trouble. He gave Kevin’s name and phone number to the bail bond company when he was arrested.

It will be interesting to find out what happens to Nick on This is Us. Will he finally get the help that he needs and kick the alcohol addiction? Could he end up helping Cassidy with her PTSD? Or will it be the other way around, with her helping him?
