Reach for that box of tissues and learn all the details that the producers have revealed about the This Is Us episodes that will pull down the curtains on the beloved saga of the Pearson family.

This Is Us Season 6 – Producers Reveal Unexpected Premiere Date!

As befitting the final season, This Is Us producers have found ways to make the show’s last episodes truly memorable.

In the past year, This Is Us viewers have had to chase down episode dates. The COVID-19 pandemic interrupted many TV shows and films’ planned shooting schedules. And This Is Us was no exception.

Throughout season 5, This Is Us viewers often had to try to play a guessing game as to whether the show would air that week. Chrissy Metz came through for fans by tweeting the announcements just prior to each episode.

But for season 6, This Is Us’ network, NBC, promises no such snark hunts, said producers Susan Rovner and Frances Berwick.

To live up to that promise, Berwick revealed that rather than the traditional fall premiere date, This Is Us will debut its first season 6 episode during the mid-season.

“This Is Us will be airing midseason for the first time in its remarkable run,” announced Berwick. “Still the #1 drama on television, This Is Us has obviously been a fan favorite since its very first episode. We know that saying goodbye to the Pearsons is going to be hard enough. So what we wanted to do is honor the fans and get them as close to an uninterrupted run as we could.”

This Is Us Season 6 -What You Need To Know

NBC wants This Is Us fans to avoid the “when and where will the season air” brouhaha that accompanied season 5 this year. To achieve that goal, the network decided to kick off season 6 with a premiere set for the mid-season. This Is Us will return to its usual Tuesday, 9 p.m. time slot.

Having episodes air weekly rather than sporadically is made possible only through the mid-season premiere, according to Berwick. But in return for waiting, the NBC exec promised a “largely uninterrupted run” with a “big send-off.”

In addition, Rover served up specifics about season 6 of This Is Us. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Season 6 of This Is Us will offer 18 episodes.
  • Fans of the Pearson family can look forward to a final season that will turn into “a great event for the fans to enjoy.”
  • And don’t worry about overly intense changes to the tone and style of the show. Dan Fogelman created This Is Us, and he will continue to mastermind the show, promised Rover. As a result: “I think in Dan’s hands, it’s going to be fantastic,” she gushed.
  • Returning featured stars will include Milo Ventimiglia as Jack Pearson, Mandy Moore as Rebecca Pearson, Sterling K. Brown as Randall Pearson, Chrissy Metz as Kate Pearson, and Justin Hartley as Kevin Pearson.
  • And fear not: The beloved spouses of Kate and Randall will return as well, with Kate’s husband Toby (Chris Sullivan) and Randall’s wife Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) weaving their own lives with the storylines of the Pearson family.

But will This Is Us truly wrap up all the unfinished storylines in a single season? We wonder what will happen to Kate’s and Toby’s blind son… whether Beth can re-open her dance studio… and how Kevin’s twins can manage their dad’s up-and-down fame roller coaster.

Chrissy Metz (Kate) offered one possibility in a recent interview, and it’s great news for This Is Us fans.

Calling the cast “distraught” about the how ending, Chrissy hinted that the finale of season 6 might not really be the end.

“Who knows? There might be a spin-off,” asserted Metz. “Who knows? Dan might say, ‘Oh, maybe let’s go season 7.’ Who knows? Listen, we haven’t even finished season 5, so I have to stay in today.”
