‘This Is Us’ Star Jennifer Morrison Teases Cassidy’s Finale Return

This Is UsThis Is Us” star Jennifer Morrison has teased for her character Cassidy’s return ahead of the season finale which suggests there’ll be more scenes with her on-screen partner Justin Hartley as Kevin.

The latest episode of “This Is Us” Season 6 titled “Heart and Soul” saw a heartbreaking moment for fan-favorite couple Cassidy (Morrison) and Kevin (Hartley) ending things between them even before they started.

Kevin called Cassidy who revealed she divorced her husband Ryan (Nick Wechsler) and he misread the sign so he attempted to pursue a romantic relationship with her. However, it ended tragically when he invited her to the cabin to reunite with Nicky (Griffin Dunne) and his new girlfriend, Edie (Vanessa Bell Calloway).

Having witnessed how his uncle Nicky and Edie are in love with each other, Kevin was driven by the mood and tried to hold Cassidy’s hand during an ice cream run but she pulled away. Cassidy bombarded him with harsh realities that he has been “blowing up women’s lives for the better part of two decades and he’s “a big handsome wrecking ball.”

“I’m too messed up already. Leave me in peace,” she told Kevin to end up things between them.

Although it was a bitter split for Cassidy and Kevin, it seems a happily ever after is still on the line as actress Jennifer Morrison confirmed it wasn’t her last episode.

‘This Is Us’ – A Happily Ever After For Cassidy And Kevin?

In an interview with People, Morrison was asked if the latest episode was the pair’s closure. The actress answered that for Cassidy it was her way of protecting “how important Kevin is in her life.”

She knows she might lose him if this relationship doesn’t work out so she’ll rather be friends than risk losing him. She doesn’t want to be Kevin’s next girl that he pursues, breaks up with, and still be fine.

“She knows that his terms can be dangerous because it leads to an end, if it doesn’t work out. She’s not interested in there being an end, she’s interested in there being a continuation,” she explained.

Morrison admitted it was Cassidy’s way of warning Kevin she could like him but she’s grounded with the fact that she’s broken and she’s not giving him the permission to add more damage to her damaged life. Morrison also hinted at a possible happily after for the two when she confessed: “I think what she’s clear on is that she doesn’t want to not have him in her life.”

Fans will have to find out if they’ll give their relationship a chance with episode 6 of season 6 scheduled to air on February 22.
