Most fans of any television show sometimes wonder how much their favorite actors are paid for their appearances, and fans of the “90 Day Fiancé” reality show franchise, which now includes the flagship show plus several spinoffs, are no different. Let’s discuss that subject!
The Flagship Show Has Eight Different Spinoffs
The flagship program, “90 Day Fiancé”, which premiered in 2014, has now grown to have eight different spinoffs; “90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?”; “90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days”; “90 Day Fiancé: What Now?”; which is digital and on TLC Go; “90 Day Fiancé: Pillow Talk” – and that is a “Pillow Talk” for each currently running version; “90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way”; “90 Day Fiancé: Self-Quarantined”; “90 Day Fiancé: The Family Chantel”; and the newest, premiering on June 22, “90 Day Fiancé: B90 Strikes Back!” “90 Day Fiancé: Self-Quarantined” and “90 Day Fiancé: B90 Strikes Back!”, as well as many recent episodes of the “Pillow Talk” and the tell-alls are currently done from the cast members’ homes, via Zoom or a similar program due to Covid-19 concerns.
There is no word as to whether they are paid for appearances in those broadcasts, however. Each regular two-hour “90 Day Fiancé” program has ten to thirteen episodes, plus there are shorter versions of those, called “sneak peeks”. Many of the shows keep showing repeats up until the next new season, and many couples have appeared on more than one spinoff, at least five from the flagship program although from different seasons.
Where Do They Find The Couples?
Series creators Kate Casey and Matt Sharp came up with a process for finding couples who qualify through what they learned in their research of the process for couples to obtain a K-1 visa application. A K-1 visa is a visa for non-immigrant fiancés and sometimes the process can take years. They only pick individuals who are already in the process of obtaining the K-1 visa and are ready for full commitment to the process and to the person they hope to marry and are ready to marry within 90 days after receiving the visa because K-1 visas only last for 90 days and are unrenewable; hence, the name, “90 Day Fiancé.”
However, the process for getting the visas approved and received can take months or even years, depending upon how backed up the bureaucracy is at any given moment! Some favorite couples who appeared on the flagship program have divorced and try again with new paramours, others marry and the shows follow them through their newlywed stages.
How Much Do The Couples Get Paid?
One issue with payment is that because some of the stars are not yet US citizens, TLC is not allowed to pay them. They pay the US half of the couple and let the couple decide the split of the money amongst themselves. A former “90 Day Fiancé” star was quoted as saying that TLC pays cast members $1,000 per installment and also that the stars get a bonus of $2,500 for appearing in the tell-all.

Including the tell-all appearances, a cast member on an average season can make around $18,000; however, the cast earns slightly less on the “Before the 90 Days” spin-off and slightly more for” Happily Ever After”. $18,000 a year really isn’t very much, especially compared to reality stars in the “Real Housewives” franchise on Bravo, where some have garnered salaries of a million-plus per episode, and even “Teen Mom” stars get more than the “90 Day Fiancé” stars do!

That Ed guy is just creepy. I don’t watch the show as a rule but TV is awful these days so I’m dredging in the mud to find something to watch that I haven’t see before and BLAH!!!! Anyway, I don’t see anything in this guy. I saw the episode where the girl he wanted to marry broke it off and I didn’t blame her at all.
