TV Reboot News: Clueless TV Show Mystery Twist Teased, Cher Goes Missing

Clueless is being made into a television series and the TV reboot will have a mystery twist. Back in October, it is rumored that the classic could be coming to the small screen. Since then, it has been confirmed and now everyone is wondering what to expect and if any original characters from the popular 90s movie will appear in the show. Here is everything we know so far about the project.

Clueless Movie

The film was released in 1995 and focused on a group of rich high school students, in particular, Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone). Cher had a mission to boost Tai Frasier’s (Brittany Murphy) popularity. Cher definitely had her work cut out for her. The film also focused on the trials and tribulations of teen life, including love and dating, especially in Cher’s life.

The film was a success and it made many of the actors’ household names.

TV Reboot News: Show to Focus on Dionne Davenport

Back in October, Deadline reported the possibility of Clueless coming back, but not as a movie. This time, it would be a TV show and would focus on Dionne Davenport. The report teased that the show would also feature a mystery twist.

Mean Girls Meets Riverdale

The Clueless reboot is written by Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey (Will & Grace). It is teased to be Mean Girls meets Riverdale meets a Lizzo music video.

“It is described as a baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sunglasses-wearing, oat milk latté and Adderall-fueled look at what happens when the high school queen bee Cher disappears and her lifelong No. 2 Dionne steps into Cher’s vacant Air Jordans. How does Dionne deal with the pressures of being the new most popular girl in school, while also unraveling the mystery of what happened to her best friend, all in a setting that is uniquely 2020 L.A.?”

Mystery Twist: Cher Horowitz Goes Missing

The latest information comes from Insider, who revealed hints about the mystery twist. It seems that Dionne’s best friend, Cher will go missing. The circumstances are mysterious and although no additional information was provided, we think that will be the center focus of the show – finding Cher and what led to her vanishing without a trace.

Multiple Networks and Streamers Interested

To be clear, the last we heard, a script had not yet been written. However, it is stated that multiple networks, including The CW are interested. We can see this type of show doing great on The CW, which did amazing with shows like Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries and Riverdale. These shows — and the network — have a loyal teen and college-aged based following and Clueless would fit in perfectly.
