Will & Grace

Will & Grace is planning to air a special I Love Lucy themed episode. The cast has decided to pay tribute to the classic sitcom in its final season. An upcoming episode of the NBC sitcom will include “re-imagined versions of iconic scenes from the original series,” according to an Entertainment Weekly report.

This episode will feature three dream sequences, in which Will (Eric McCormack) will play Ricky Ricardo. Of course, Grace (Debra Messing) will take on the role of Lucy as Jack (Sean Hayes) and Karen (Megan Mullally) play Fred and Ethel. The classic scenes include Lucy starring in a “Vitameatavegamin” commercial, the chocolate factory, and grape stomping in Italy.

Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz’s daughter, Lucie Arnaz, is expected to make an appearance during the chocolate factory dreamed. In a statement released to Entertainment Weekly, Arnaz said that she knows her “parents would be over the moon to be honored this way” and that she’s “thrilled to be invited to the party.” This is the first time that Arnaz has signed onto to play a role that honors her parents’ show.

The news of the I Love Lucy themed episode is already making the rounds on social media on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Each member of the cast shared photos of everyone in costume. Debra Messing revealed the behind-the-scenes transformation into Lucille Ball. The resemblance is uncanny. Some Will & Grace fans can’t wait to see Messing transform into the iconic comedian. They believe she is the perfect actress to play Lucille Ball in a biopic.

She took to Instagram to share some photos of her incredible transformation. She also shared some behind-the-scene shots on Instagram Stories. Messing revealed how much work was involved to recreate the classic series. “I can’t wait until you see all the mind blowing work done by Costumes, Sets & Set Dressing, Props, et al when it airs next spring,” Messing teased fans on Instagram.

However, the Will & Grace writers said that they won’t mess with the original series. The scenes will be acted out as they were in the original series. This is the first time that an I Love Lucy episode has been recreated for television. What are your thoughts on Will & Grace doing an I Love Lucy themed episode? Will you tune in to watch?
