AMC’s The Walking Dead wrapped up its 11th and final season on November 2022, and now the franchise is focusing on its spin-offs. With Fear The Walking Dead soon coming to an end with Season 8, AMC is now ordering more spin-offs, including the latest one, which will feature a total of six episodes.
The network is already working on three upcoming spin-offs that are focused on several characters from the original series. However, Scott Gimple, the chief creative officer for The Walking Dead franchise, has shown interest in an anthology spin-off of the existing Tales Of The Walking Dead in the near future. So, what is this new spin-off about? Keep reading to find out the details!
This second set of anthology episodes from The Walking Dead universe is titled More Tales From The TWDU. Currently, this is a working title that will showcase stories from the expanding franchise. The show will be developed by Gimple for AMC’s production house Content Room, which specializes in creating original series for the digital platform. Additionally, it will be different from the existing anthology series by featuring several short-form stories within each episode.
More Tales From The TWDU will serve as Tales Of The Walking Dead’s follow-up. The original anthology series showed different survivors and their journey amid the ongoing zombie apocalypse. In the very same anthology, Episode 3 featured the detailed tale of Alpha, who was later known as Alpha Of The Whisperers, the notorious group from Seasons 9 & 10 of The Walking Dead. Another episode in the anthology featured several original characters and their story, including Terry Crews as Joe, the lone survivor.
Back in November 2022, Gimple revealed more details regarding TWDU spin-offs that would feature several returning characters. This was when he mentioned that a Tales Of The Walking Dead continuation would be a better way to bring back older characters. Given that the upcoming anthology show hasn’t finalized a title yet, it might strongly focus on connecting several factions of the TWD universe. This means characters that have been pre-established on the show will be the prime focus of the anthology series.
As per reports, stories that could be a part of the anthology are that of Eugene, Rosita, and Abraham, who were the prime characters in The Walking Dead. Apart from this, other stories would include the events that happened to Heath after his disappearance in the seventh season of The Walking Dead.
