When the original series The Walking Dead finally came to a close, fans were distraught. This led to a series of spinoff shows, some as good, and some not so good.

However, one spinoff show revealed two of the fans’ favorite characters, the good Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and the not-so-good Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). The latter spinoff is coming back for a second season, so let’s find out what fans can expect,

The Walking Dead universe continues as Dead City season 2 reveals Maggie and Negan’s return to the small screen. Not only that but a premiere window has been set.

Maggie and Negan are back in The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2

Fans got some truly good news on Friday at New York Comic Con as panels were seen for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol. Meanwhile, in celebration of the event, a new teaser trailer was released for Dead City, which is set to premiere in the spring of 2025 on AMC and AMC+.

The panel that was moderated by Chris Jericho featured The Walking Dead Universe Chief Content Officer, Scott M. Gimple. It also features executive producers for Dead City and lead stars, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan. Other cast members from the show included Željko Ivanek, Gaius Charles and Dascha Polanco.

Meanwhile, a second panel was moderated by Robert Rodriguez for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol. The panel featured Gimple, executive producer showrunner David Zabel, director and executive producer Greg Nicotero. Meanwhile, Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon himself) and Melissa McBride (Carol) were there together with cast member Louis Puech Scigliuzzi.

The Daryl Dixon spinoff is currently airing its second season on Sundays on AMC and AMC+.

What is Dead City about?

As noted by Deadline, The Walking Dead: Dead City follows Negan (Morgan) and Maggie (Cohan) as they travel to a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, which has long been cut off from mainland New York City.

Manhattan is crumbling and is full of the dead, along with people who have made the city their own world, filled with danger, anarchy, terror and beauty. Season two reveals the growing war for control of Manhattan. where Negan and Maggie find themselves trapped on opposite sides. As Negan and Maggie’s paths intertwine, they realize that the only way out for them both is more complicated and harrowing than they could ever have imagined.

On an interesting note, at the end of the teaser trailer, included at the bottom of the page, power comes back on in Manhattan, with colorful neon lights on Radio City. Negan’s words at this point in the trailer are: “Power equals power.”

Meanwhile, season 2 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon kicks off where the first season ended, following Daryl Dixon (Reedus), already in France. Meanwhile, Carol Peletier (McBride) makes plans to fly to France to reunite with her friend.

It isn’t an easy ride for either of them, as they both confront old demons with Carol fighting to find Daryl, and he himself struggling with his decision to stay in France. This is caused by tension at the Nest. Meanwhile, Genet’s (Anne Charrier) movement builds momentum, setting Pouvoir on a violent collision course with the Union of Hope in the fight for France’s future.

Moreover, Daryl struggles to protect Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) from deadly tests to find a cure for the virus.
