The Young and the Restless spoilers hint that with a total of four character deaths in a matter of weeks, not to mention major changes occurring at CBS, many viewers are concerned about the show’s fate.
The long-time running soap opera does well in the ratings; however, no daytime drama is ever truly safe from getting cancelled. Time to talk about this.
Character Deaths Have Rocked Fans
The Young and the Restless spoilers suggest that many fans have been rocked by the passing of Cole Howard (J. Eddie Peck), Damian Kane (Jermaine Rivers), Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd), and even Carter (Vincent Stalba), Cane Ashby’s (Billy Flynn) loyal assistant.
While Carter’s demise made sense, considering he wasn’t an established character, Cole’s passing didn’t, and neither did Damian’s.
After all, Damian was hyped up a lot when he first entered the canvas, mere months ago, in February 2025.
Why go through all that to bring back Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic), long-lost brother, if he was going to be given the boot?
Plus, as a legacy character, many fans wished that Chance had exited in a different fashion. While most know that Conner Floyd is headed to Days of Our Lives, slipping into the Chad DiMera role, and the actor had been dropped down to recurring status recently, was a death necessary?
CBS Layoffs Are Concerning
Add in the fact that the CBS network has had some concerning layoffs, including correspondents, like Pamela Falk and Jeff Pegues, as well as CBS Studios’ EVP and Head of Casting for streaming series, Deborah Aquila, and it’s no wonder Y&R fans are worried about a possible cancellation.
The network’s late-night lineup has been impacted, too, with CBS axing The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and its final show airing in May 2026. Not to mention the 800 employees CBS laid off, as per a report by the New York Post back in early 2024.
With all that said, for the time being, fans will continue to see Y&R storylines unfold as the show has been renewed up until the 2027/28 season.

It will run its course and then retire. The fate of the characters will remain uncertain.
I been watching Y&R & B&B since they began. They have been my favorite shows looking forward to seeing them every week but now my JOY has reduced greatly. Both shows have become so different, nothing like they used to be. Talking about same subjects over & over, dragging out the different storylines, on & on making it boring. The families on shows have many absent members, adults & children for months & years. I keep hoping the writers will make some changes as have many great actors & actresses.
I have been very upset over the storyline the past month! I really thought the old cane was coming back! That was the first upset! No I am not happy with all the deaths especially Cole and Chance! I love them both! I love lily with Daniel Goddard! Major faux pas! Writers and Casters need to be fired!
I would be devastated if both shows were cancelled. I have been watching The Y&R and Bold & Beautiful since the beginning. Yes, sometimes the stories drag on too long or are just stupid but they take me away from real life. I would really miss them.
I have been watching Y&R since 1974 with both of my parents who are now deceased. It’s a show that has truly evolved over the years and although the writers have changed overtime, the characters are the core of the show. I still love the show and would love to see it continue on.
I would be devastated if Young and the Restlss was cancelled.Get rid of Bold and the Beautiful;. Now that is a boring mess. i
Ive been watching young &Restless, bold &beautiful . and former soaps AS the world turns, guiding light since high school, into adulthood . Adevoted fan I dont believe thesestupid ratings and all these ppl complaining &
griping about storylines dragging on ect, And they call themselves fans, I hardly think so. they say they would miss the shows if they got cancelled, IF YOU IDIOTS would quit griping the ratings would go back up. If the worst
happened it would be their fault.
