Angelica McDaniels, EVP, Daytime Programs, CBS Entertainment is leaving the network after nine years. Her last day was Thursday, September 5. Her position is being eliminated as the daytime team will be managed by Amy Reisenbach, Deadline reports.

This change is much like the restructuring ABC did several years ago. CBS soap fans cannot help but wonder if this change will be a positive one for Y&R and B&B. She has been accused of driving her own agenda, especially by bringing the Rosales family on Young and the Restless.

CBS Releases A Comment On Her Departure

“Angelica McDaniel championed our daytime series line up with creativity, passion and energy and broke new ground by helping launch the Network’s first daytime talk show in years while respecting the long history and tradition of the dramas and game shows. We appreciate her many contributions and wish her well on her next endeavors,” Kelly Kahl said in a statement.

McDaniel exit is seen as a positive change by many fans. Although, it isn’t clear how her exit will affect the soap operas. It could just be a way to streamline the executive oversight and not about how Angelica handled the daytime shows.

Angelica Was A Champion Of Daytime TV

McDaniel joined CBS in 2010 as Vice President of Daytime Programming. She helped CBS keep their daytime on top of the rating charts. Those programs are: Let’s Make a Deal, The Price Is Right, The Talk, as well as The Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful.

The former CBS executive was a champion of the daytime genre and she helped make The Talk successful. It led to the talk show being the source of all things Daytime Emmy related.

Every year, the award nominations are announced on the talk show, something that brings in CBS a surge of ratings.

CBS wishes Angelica luck in her next position. Do you think her exit will lead to a positive change on Y&R and B&B? Are you surprised by her exit?

Who knows? I am not sure what type of input Angelica had in the writing and direction of the storylines. If she had very little, things may be about the same. If she had a hand in the direction of the stories, then the new person taking over may change things up. Who is Angelica’s replacement, and what has she done for the soaps up to this point?
