And that led to a long-term role. Rikaart even took home the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2005, noted TV Insider.

But then came another opportunity. And in 2017, Days Of Our Lives chose the actor for the role of Leo Stark.  But as Greg looks back on his career, he sees that first role on The Young And The Restless as a turning point. And he recalled, “My manager said to me, ‘[Playing Kevin] is a great opportunity to put everything in your life on hold and immerse yourself in this role.’ I remember the audition material was so emotional.”

And now Rikaart has achieved another milestone in his role as Leo on Days Of Our Lives. “It’s a bit trailblazing,” pointed out the actor. And he noted that writers crafted a unique plot in its “love triangle involving a gay man [Leo] and a straight woman [Gwen] fighting over the same guy [Dimitri], who is bisexual.” But he also praised Judith Chapman for her skills in portraying Leo’s mother Diana.

Chapman has developed a “really specific and fascinating” method of acting, praised Rikaart. “And it’s also fascinating to be a part of. She’s technically savvy,” he added. “But she’s also a tremendously gifted actress.” And he views working with her on Days Of Our Lives as “truly a gift.”

But Rikaart also appreciates the fans who have followed his characters’ journeys. And he recalled when he went on the set for what he thought would become his last day at The Young And The Restless. “Eileen Davidson pulled me aside and said, ‘I promise you this is going to be the best thing that’s ever happened to you.’ I wasn’t in a place where I could remember that,” he admitted. But recently, she reminded him of her words. And now Greg feels “so much gratitude for the fans. If it weren’t for them and their investment in Kevin and Leo, neither of them would still be around.”
