Is Allison Lanier Returning To The Young And The Restless? New Social Media Post Creates Speculation

The Young and the Restless spoilers indicate that a new social media post has created some buzz that Allison Lanier could be returning to her role as Summer Newman.

Lanier left the role in early May, as Summer flew to Italy to recruit staff for Marchetti. While at the time, a source from the Y&R stated there were no imminent plans to recast the role, is that because they knew Lanier would be returning?

Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe Fisher) hopped on Instagram to announce an exciting career shift; she’s moving from in front of the camera to behind it, to become a new director for the CBS soap.

Uploading 7 photos to her announcement post, the first one revealed the episode number and air date of her very first ‘directed’ Y&R show, which is happening on Tuesday, August 5.

The others were various photos of Hendrickson with different cast members while she was “directing”.

The third photo in the group was one of her, Lanier, Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson), and Courtney Hope (Sally Spectra). Could this mean what fans think it means?

Hendrickson’s Transition Took 18 Months

It is important to note that in the caption, Hendrickson does say she’s spent the past 18 months “… shadowing, observing & absorbing,” prior to her official directorial debut, so the photo with her and Lanier could be one that was taken before Summer left.

In fact, based on what Lanier, Egan, and Hope are wearing in the pic, it appears to be the scene where Chelsea and Sally tell Summer that they have both decided to leave Marchetti to pursue other ventures.

For Chelsea, that meant working at Newman Media with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman); for Sally, it was leading up Abbott Communications with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson).

Still, as fans also know, the characters tend to wear the same outfits (here and there), as anyone in real life does, so there is also a small chance that Hendrickson just left a hint on her IG that Lanier could be returning.

If her first show airs on Tuesday, she worked on this about four to six weeks ago, which offers plenty of filming opportunities between then and now, to.
