As soon as Elizabeth Leiner began appearing in the role of Tara Locke, speculation began as to whether the actress would stay long-term, if she would sign a contract, or if the show would recast the role.

The answer to the speculation about the character’s longevity is that poof, just like that, she has exited Genoa City, stage left.

The character was reportedly to remain only for a few episodes but ended up sticking around for a while.

Y&R Spoilers – The Week Of August 16, 2021 Brings Casting Changes

Tara has been arrested and jailed for fraud thus her status is now clear. It’s assumed the role is over as last week the character left the Abbott Mansion in disgrace and Leiner is no longer on the sudser.

While Tara’s role has been resolved, she leaves behind a child, Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) who may or may not be Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor).

Kyle’s portrayer Michael Mealor has also left the show as has his onscreen boo, Summer Newman (Hunter King). The only one who remains from the original Locke Ness monster storyline is the monster himself, Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi).

But Ashland is supposedly dying, so will that character soon leave the canvas as well? He may, especially now that he’s set to marry Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). Her dad Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is digging into the guy’s background and just accused him of possibly marrying Victoria for the sole purpose of stealing the Newman family assets.

If the show wants to wrap up this misbegotten storyline asap, the best way would be for Victor to take a dislike to the whole mess.

Elsewhere, Melissa Claire Egan, who plays Chelsea Newman, had an update for fans. She left for maternity leave in July, but indicated that she did a bit more filming, periodically stopping in to film a scene or two. According to her, she is now on a real leave as on August 11 she tweeted a pic of herself with the words, “Last work selfie for a while!”
