In case you missed the finer points of this incredible tale, entitled and privileged Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) is so used to getting her way that she demanded her friends make her dream of becoming a first-time mom come true.
After she discovered that she cannot carry a baby to term, her husband Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) discovered he has a low sperm count. All seemed to be lost in regard to them creating a baby the minute they got back from their honeymoon–until he got a mysterious call ordering him to leave his new bride and tell no one where he was going or what he was up to.

Poor Abby. She was heartbroken that Chance ditched her, then she got another one of her bright heiress ideas—rent a womb and catch some sperm!
Her friends were instantly accommodating, with Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) agreeing to loan Abby her womb and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) agreeing to donate his swimmers. Never mind that in the real world both would be frowned upon for this process as both are childless themselves. “Hey, it’s a soap we can play with viewer’s minds and they won’t mind,” one imagines the writers thinking. Not exactly—we are used to suspending disbelief but this tortuously contrived story is laugh-out-loud ludicrous on so many levels.

When the plot isn’t being cloyingly cringy like when Abby’s helpers gifted her with silly “meaningful” gifts like honey (you fill in the blank) it is annoyingly obvious. What are the chances that childless Mariah will fall in love with the baby and want to keep it?

Forgive me, when Mariah faceplanted at the beginning of today's episode, I could not stop laughing.
I am so SICK OF CHELSEA. She tried to create problems for Adam. We know and she confessed to poisoning Rey, her friend Chloe was her help mate and she has the nerve to give order to Adam to not see his son. Chelsea and Chloe needs some jail time in a jail mental institution. Poor Connor need some stability in his life. Thank God, his father is trying to change his life.
Why is Mariah keeping the baby? isn't she supposed to go by their agreement, gee I feel bad for Abby, no luck on her end. Maybe she'll be a good mother and Chance will come home and be with her instead of Abby, wow what a switcheroo.
I too am tired of this con woman Chelsea, and hey she wants to bed Rey so bad in the facility she just has to be caught by who, none other that his wife Sharon I totally agree with you there about crazy Chloe she needs to go down too for this crime, she
isn't innocent like she claims. I hope Adam picks his son up at Boarding School and bring him to the penthouse, hope he changes all the locks so Chelsea can't get in.
I think the whole story is horrible. Most Y&R fans are not ready for a mixed baby, not to mention being created by friends. Why didn't she go to a sperm bank? I have had it with this show.

pretty much that is kind of what happened when Mac had the twins for Lily, I hope the writers don't revisit this nonsense again . Mariah signed papers so she shouldn't be able to keep the baby. Not sure why the writers ventured down this road of surogacy with Mariah in the first place if they were going to do this and have Chance leave and come back and not want the baby absolutely crazy storyline

Why would she want another womans baby? It was Abby's egg, not Mariah's…plus they all signed an agreement before anything was started. Dumb storyline
what is wrong with people, there are many mixed children on this show and many others ..Lily's children are mixed Devon for sure is mixed as is Lily herself …so many stupid racist remarks here. I don't like that Mariah did this or Devon they are friends and why the writers would go through all this only to have it go to a crazy ending!
I don't think Mariah is that type of person, to take the baby from Abbey! Please don't turn a gift into a tragedy! That is hurting all of those Hopeful, Wanna-Be Mothers!

I guess I missed something…. And I watch everyday. I didn’t see an episode where Mariah said she wanted to “keep” the baby. I know she would love to, but I didn’t see where she officially declared that to Abby. Only that she wanted her and Tessa to have a baby of their own.
Conner isn’t any bad off being Chelsea son as he is being Adam son. Adam has put Conner through a lot of hell but Chelsea stuck with him helping him but as soon as Chelsea needed Adam he runs to Sharon some joke for Adam to say Chelsea is bad for Conner get real
